What is Caffeine:

Caffeine is a substance found in tea leaves and coffee beans and sometimes added to some weight loss supplements and drugs. Caffeine is a stimulant that affects the central nervous system. Its effects may include an energy boost and mental alertness.

What does Caffeine and weight loss have to do with each other?:

As you all may have heard, beverages that contain caffeine such as coffee can have a weight loss effect. According to CSPI, consuming 100 mg of caffeine may increase your metabolism slightly so that you burn an extra 75 to 100 calories a day. Caffeine pretty much boosts your metabolism. However it has been said that for people who consume a lot of coffee may not notice weight loss. This could be because of the added calories from cream and sugar. Coffee also has an appetite suppressant effect as well. Which in turn may result in you eating less.

Bottom Line:

While I won't say to run out and drink as much coffee as you can get your hands on. I will say, that possibly having a coffee black before a mean may help you take in a smaller meal and burn a few extra calories.
